Meet me in the pouring rain...

There's nothing quite like rain on a Saturday afternoon, is there? I was getting ready to walk to a little coffee shop downtown when I looked out my window and saw it was absolutely pouring. What's that line of Audrey Hepburn's from Sabrina? "Not just a drizzle, but some honest-to-goodness rain." Yup. So... no walk to the coffee shop. :)

So.... enjoy some happy rain pictures!!!

Ok, so I'm absolutely getting a pair of red rain boots!

Don't you just want to do a Mary Poppins jump into this gorgeous painting?

Some day.... :)

And some people are so hardcore they visit sidewalk cafes... in the rain.

There's just something about Paris and rain, don't you think?

Have a super fantastic weekend, y'all! :)

Fridays....

Because it was just that kind of day... :)

But after coffee... the world somehow seemed to be a better place. :) Doesn't it always seem to happen that way?
Michael Buble in the background.... shopping trip with one of my lovlies... happy chat with a far away sister.... gorgeous evening sun after a very gray day.... a new blue and white stripey dress.... the weekend peeking around the corner at me.
Yup. I'd say this a pretty awesome Friday. Hope y'all have the happiest ever weekend!! :)

The food of summer

The best thing about summer food is the fresh taste it has, all earthy and real. We have a big garden, but only planted a small section. The vegetables have been yummy, the zucchini especially. We also have a orchard, and strawberry beds.

We've been canning peaches and picking berries and taking in the hay. Long days with lots of heat, but rewarding in the end. This winter, there will be lots of food, that is for sure!

With lots of summer love,

Olivia

And the flowers grew.

When spring came, there was a brownness left over from the winter that wouldn't disappear. It wanted its last say. When it turned to May and the frost stopped coming, there was rich green leaves and grass that grew with renewed vigor. Now, as the heat waves roll over us and we lay out in the sun, there are flowers abounding. Yellow and red and purple. Tiny hummingbirds and bumblebees all around them.

Can't believe it's August already, and I can't believe that school and college will be starting again so soon. Tori will head back to Louisiana to be a Southern girl while she studies for her BSN. I will stay here and work, then embark on a three week vacation.

I feel as if summer has gone so fast! I am already thinking about autumn, my favorite time of year, and about all my wonderful clothes packed away ready to be taken out. While the peaches are canned and the apples picked, I'll be thinking about this:

Autumn Trees

depth of autumn
a few leaves on the tree
dancing

autumn leaves
the girls talk about
christmas

autumn
from the gnarled trees
fluttering birds
