Wandering...

Hey y'all,

This picture reminded of the beautiful quote you'll see below. It looks like such gorgeous, enchanted place, doesn't it? Somewhere I'd love to go on a lazy afternoon and just... wander. :)

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.

An Experiment

Hey y'all,
So I had this brilliant idea about wearing (at least) one cute outfit a week and then posting pictures of it. I thought it might force me to be a little more creative. :) I got one of my chicas to agree to take the pictures and we planned a day when she was available and I (was supposed to) look cute.
Well... the best laid plans of mice and men, as they say. I had had a VERY bad morning (hence the  unbelievable bush on the top of my head) and didn't really have time to put together a real outfit. So I threw on my I-need-to-look-nice-in-about-2-seconds dress and a belt. (I think I would be nearly destitute and naked if I didn't have this dress, that's how much of a standard it is to my closet.) There are an unbelievable number of options on how to wear a dress like this. This is the bear bones of it:
1. Dress
2. Belt
3. Shoes (I didn't even wear cute shoes this day... just flip-flops!)
And there you have it. My favorite, stripy, long, easy bestest dress ever!
And here's to actually putting together a real outfit, with more components than a dress and a belt. :) Not that every outfit has to be complicated with a lot of pieces-parts... but you have to admit, they are a little more exciting. :)
Make your Wednesday fabulous: smile more than you ever have before! :)

At last...

Hey y'all,

College is an ideal place for cultivating gratefulness for the weekends. I'm convinced I didn't really understand the true meaning of them until I started college. Now, quite honestly, I relish them. :) This weekend, I plan to eat lots of coffee, sleep in,  and read A Tale of Two Cities, for the 98th time. :)

Hope y'all have the most fantastic weekend ever!

Hey y'all,

So last weekend was Fall Break (yay!!!) so two of my lovelies and I went on a little excursion to do some shopping, picture taking, eating... you get the point.
Enjoy our adventure! :)

These two took me under their wing when I moved here. They're hilarious and sweet, gorgeous and Southern, and we have all kinds of crazy adventures together!

This chica was the reason I survived my first semester here at school. She's the one who knew everything that was going on, when, and who to talk to about it. We've spent hilarious hours laughing, watching movies (Tangled, anyone?), studying together, and sharing the best part- life! :)

This chica is my little Cajun... and she cracks me up! That little smile says it all. :) She has recently discovered my obsession with ice cream and she found this adorbs little ice cream parlor with shiny stools at a tall counter. (Like the perfectest little place ever.) She and routinely converse in British accents. :)

~the ice cream parlor~

The Rajun Cajuns are University of Louisiana's athletic team and quite the thing in this town!

It doesn't matter how many of these I see... I still have to take a picture of every single one! I just LOVE palm trees! :)

Cool building that I couldn't see the front of. We were kind of... ahem... parked a little bit illegally so I had to hurry. That's all. :)

They were so patient and posed so beautifully for me!

I just love them! They're so cute!! :)

This street corner reminded me of New Orleans... in a very small town sort of way. :)

Because no photo shoot is complete without at least one picture of feet.

....and this is a cool dude without, um.. the top of his head. I'm not exactly sure who or what he is but, hey, it's not everyday you see a huge head without... part of his head. So I thought he deserved a picture.

You just cannot take a bad picture of these two! :)

Well, not all of us can have glamour shots every time.

The moral of the story is: my chicas rock!

Hope your Monday was fabulous! :)

Yellow, the color of perfect happiness

I have missed this little space for more than one reason, but mainly because I have had no place to share my real life inspiration. These yellow mums caught my eyes yesterday and I felt like I was moving to the land of sun and happiness.

The color yellow, the feel of sunlight on your skin, how it catches the eye wherever it goes, ah, this is perfection.

When it rains...

Hey y'all,

So I live in the South. Where it rains... a lot. But I find myself in a constant state of unpreparedness when it comes to rain. I look out my window first thing in the morning and see the beautiful slate gray sky and happy little puddles in the parking lot and I smile. And then I remember.... I have no rain boots, no jacket that could even remotely function as a rain coat and, worst of all... no umbrella!
My poor hair has begged me on several occasions to get an umbrella. But, alas, I have not. Consequently, I arrive at class looking a deal less huckleberry than I would like. :) I don't have an aversion to umbrellas. In fact, I think they're adorable! I just seem to get in awkward fixes when I have an umbrella... :)

I would love to think I could look as graceful and classy as the girl in this {gorgeous} piece of artwork.

A great, big umbrella? Yes! A perfect, drippy day? Most definitely. A yellow dress??? Yes   please!! :)

I suppose if I want to arrive at class in any sort of calm, collected, ladylike, fashion I should invest in an umbrella. Probably a smart idea. :)

Stay dry, my lovelies!
